This was one of the most interesting and exciting interviews I had since I started to work on GoodAI and I must admit that I enjoyed it a lot.

Space Engineers has come a long way. We were one of the first Early Access games and we are still one of the most successful Early Access games on the market. We transformed a small indie project into a huge sandbox game containing many features and possibilities. The tremendous scale of the game is clearly evident by the fact that Space Engineers has one of the largest workshops on Steam, with a huge amount of individual items available.

Hello, Engineers! Today is the day for all Space Engineers. Today, we are moving Space Engineers out of Early Access. It was our goal to release the game in the state we consider to fulfill our original vision, including all planned features and core game components. Moreover, the game includes a lot of things that were not planned at the beginning of development.

Hello, Engineers! It’s time for another major update. We have been very busy since the release of Space Engineers from Early Access and the Major Overhaul of Survival update. For our last update, we added Customizable LCD screens, the Replay Tool, Steam Badges, Backgrounds and Trading Cards, Three New Music Tracks for the Deluxe Edition, as well as many bug fixes and optimizations for Space Engineers.

Hello, Engineers! The last couple of months were busy ones at Keen. We were working on another major update, which we are releasing today. Many of you have participated in our public tests, so you probably know that the update is about the new economy system we are bringing to the game.

Hello, Engineers! It’s hard to believe, but Space Engineers was released six years ago. It seems like yesterday, but I think the time always runs very fast with the things you love. It would take the entire blog post to mention all names and people who contributed to the success of Space Engineers. But it were not only my colleagues who I’d like to thank, it’s also you, our players and modders, who helped us to shape the game, gave us great ideas and who constantly provided us with feedback.

Back then we had only a vague idea of what to do, what the requirements of general AI are, and what should be our milestones...

Biography

I have always been driven by the need to create — games, AI agents, ideas. That’s why I started Keen Software House: to create games that only existed in my head. After Space Engineers took off, I founded GoodAI to develop AGI, to help humanity and understand the universe.

These days I’m focused on Space Engineers 2, the VRAGE3 engine, AI People, and autonomous agents in general — powering NPCs in our games, or swarms of autonomous and intelligent drones.

It’s all part of my long-term plan: to make civilization stronger, greater, and more resilient.

Our home base is a 17th-century Oranžérie in Prague — but we’re a remote-first, global team of 100+ programmers, artists, designers, and engineers.

I am proudly European , and in the last few years, I’ve come to love South Africa and its people.
